Former DC Mwambi dies

Former Chongwe District Commissioner in the late President Michael Sata’s administration, Charles Mwambi, is dead.


Mr Mwambi died after a short illness last Saturday, February 21, 2015 and will be put to rest at Lusaka’s Memorial Park tomorrow.


Rufunsa District Commissioner, Paul Kasongo, announced the death of Mr Mwambi to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Rufunsa District this evening.


Mr Kasongo said Mr Mwambi was appointed District Commissioner by late President Michael Sata from 2012 to 2013.


The Rufunsa District Commissioner explained that Mr Mwambi also once served as General Manager for the Zambia Publishing Company (ZPC) before joining active politics.


He further explained Mr Mwambi served as Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka Province Vice Chairperson prior to the 2011 tripartite elections.


Mr Mwambi is survived by a wife, three children and one grandchild.


Funeral gathering is at his residence in Lusaka West.
