Zambia’s Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Turkey, Joseph Chilengi has urged Turkish investors to invest

Ankara, Tuesday, May 29, 2018-Zambia’s Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Turkey, Joseph Chilengi has urged Turkish investors to invest in the hotel and hospitality industry in Zambia.
Ambassador Chilengi said Zambia is working towards increasing its bed capacity because the country has become a centre of international and continental diplomacy, which hosts international and regional events.
“We are inviting serious investors in the tourism and hospitality industry into Zambia. The conditions for investment are very conducive and you cannot find them any better elsewhere on the continent and the region,” Mr Chilengi said.
He was speaking when Ankara Hilton SA Senior Executive Mehmethan Bayhan paid a courtesy call on him at the Zambian Chancery in Ankara today.
He also said Zambia will host the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government Summit in 2022 and the country was in a hurry to put in place supporting infrastructure such as hotels.
Ambassador Chilengi also said President Edgar Lungu was determined to ensure that the hospitality industry takes its rightful place in the development discourse of the country.
He also said the Head of State had prioritized tourism development in the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) to reposition the sector to contribute more to economic growth and job creation.
“Your investment in Zambia, will be the most secure in the world, there is no other place globally that you can find a secure environment that you can put in your investment. Zambia is proudly a country which has been politically stable and will continue to be politically stable because of the nature of our citizens with the support of the leadership that we put in place ,” Ambassador Chilengi said.
Mr Bayhan pledged to help the Zambian Mission in Ankara to host a Food Festival to showcase Zambia’s traditional food and cuisine.
