Ngabwe, April 19, ZANIS—Ngabwe Town Council Chairperson, Thabiso Mizinga says the government is committed to developing rural parts of the country, especially the newly created districts.
Mrs Mizinga says this is why the government has funded the construction of six double VIP toilets in Ngabwe at a cost of K167, 000.
She stated that the toilets will be constructed at Mumbachala Secondary School, Chishimu Market, Mumbachala Health Post, Ngabwe Secondary School, Ngabwe Health Post and Mukubwe School.
Mrs Mizinga further said the toilets will go a long way in preventing diarrheal diseases in the district such as cholera.
“These toilets have been funded through the National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme Basket Fund, key areas have been identified for the construction of the toilets and construction will commence immediately,” she said.
Ms Mizinga urged people to take responsibility for government property and not vandalise the facilities being constructed for them.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mizinga has urged the station committee to hand over the authority of all markets and stations to the council with immediate effect.
“As we may be aware that all markets and stations in Zambia are under Local authorities, I, therefore, appeal to the station’s committee to handover station authority to the council,” she said.
